Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Kamal Salih
Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Kamal Salih graduated with B.A. (Hons) (Monash, 1969) and PhD (University Pennsylvania, 1973). Between 1973 and 1985, he served in Universiti Sains Malaysia as Professor and Dean, and last as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Akademic). He was Founding Executive Director of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (“MIER”) (1986-1994), and was founder and Executive Chairman of Sesama Group of Companies from 1981-2010, and of Tenggara Oil Berhad from 1994 until he retired in 2006.
He was also founder of the first private medical college in Malaysia (1992) known as the International Medical University (IMU) and remained its Chairman and President until 2004. He was elected Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju (1995-1999). In 1996, he established and was Chairman of Yayasan Wangsa Maju, which is now known as Yayasan Mahkota.
He is currently Executive Chairman of Ankar Capital and Adjunct Professor of Economics and Development Studies at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya.
